As organisations such as an Americal Medical Association are starting to recommend acupuncture as frontline treatment, insurance companies are increasingly covering acupuncture costs.
If your insurance is not listed here, it doesn’t mean they will not pay for your treatment. Come in, get a treatment plan from us and then get in touch with them.
Southern cross insurance may cover some costs
“Well Being Two” policy with Body Care Module – will pay claims of up to $400 per year for acupuncture.

NZ Police, NZ Post, Air New Zealand, Kiwi Rail, and Veteran’s Affairs all may provide cover
These organisations may cover all or some of the cost of Acupuncture treatment for employees.
If you are a member of one of the education unions, or are employed by it, you may be able to make a claim: New Zealand Educational Institute, Post Primary Teachers Association, The Tertiary Education Union, Tertiary Institutes Allied Staff Association, The Independent Schools Education Association Inc., NZ Public Service Association University and Education Service Groups.
Unimed, one of the top four health insurers in New Zealand. At the time of writing these plans covered acupuncture: Hospital Select and Health Positive.
To be able to receive funding from the ACC, we’ll need your valid ACC claim number and/or ACC45 number prior to treatment being provided.
If the injury is older than one year, additional paperwork is required prior to treatment.
Work and income NZ
Patients registered with Work and Income may be eligible for assistance. Please request for a referral from your GP and consult with WINZ before you make an appointment.
Our patients were successful at pre-approving, and claiming the cost of acupuncture from Partners Life insurance with our treatment plan and supporting studies/evidence.
