Endometriosis is a common issue that affects fertility. In fact, 4 out of 10 women experience reduced chances of conception due to it.

Despite the prevalence, the exact reasons for the link between endometriosis and fertility are still unknown. Having said that, a very likely contributing factor is Inflammation. Endometriosis and inflammation are good at fuelling each other, creating a vicious cycle.

As we know, that inflammation compromises natural conception by disrupting ovulation and hormone production. Furthermore, it creates a hostile environment to both eggs and sperm, alters endometrial receptivity, making it more difficult for conception to occur.

Naturally, the more severe is the endometriosis, the worse are the effects of it on your fertility. IVF is not always be able to overcome the damage caused by endometriosis.

With IVF the eggs are surgically retrieved from ovaries and fertilised in a laboratory setting. You may think that this will prevent the potential harm caused by inflammation. But inflammation can compromise uterine receptivity jeopardising the chances of implantation and conception.

Because acupuncture interferes with the mechanism of inflammation, it becomes especially useful in calming endometriosis. This can lead to reduced inflammation, less damage to eggs and sperm, improved uterine receptivity, and ultimately, you are more likely to fall pregnant.
