Acupuncture Endometriosis and Fertility
How reproductive acupuncture can improve your chances to conceive

Acupuncture helps to reduce inflammation protecting eggs and sperm
Endometriosis is a common reason for infertility. In fact, it will prevent conception in 4 out of 10 women diagnosed.
Despite it being so common, we still don’t know the exact reasons why it causes infertility. A very likely suspect – Inflammation. Endometriosis and inflammation are good at fueling each other.
And inflammation compromises natural conception. It creates an inhospitable environment to both eggs and sperm.
The more severe the endometriosis, the worse are the effects on your fertility. And in more advanced stages of the disease inflammation can prevent the fertilised embryo from implanting.
With IVF the sperm and eggs are fertilised in vitro. You may think that this will prevent the potential damage caused by inflammation. But even in case of IVF inflammation reduces your chances of success.
This is where acupuncture is useful. It has been shown to interfere with the mechanism of inflammation and makes it more likely that you will get pregnant.
Acupuncture improves uterine receptivity
Scientists are continuing to look for answers why endometriosis affects your fertility. There has been some evidence that it may compromise your uterine receptivity. Again, acupuncture is the good news. It can restore the receptivity as well as optimise the quality of the uterine lining.
As you have noticed by now, we use acupuncture not only to manage your endometriosis symptoms. Our treatment is designed to reduce inflammation as well as to regulate your cycles and improve your uterine receptivity.
How Acupuncture can help before and after surgery and IVF
If your endometriosis advanced, blocking your fallopian tubes, or you developed other complications, it is likely you will need additional treatments. These may include surgery or/and IVF.
Acupuncture can help you to recover from the surgery faster. Additionally, it reduces your risk to develop adhesions. We have worked alongside IVF clinics in Auckland since 1999. We will be here to support you with acupuncture while you are undergoing treatments.
Your individual treatment plan will be based on both your condition and traditional medical diagnosis and the latest scientific evidence.
