Acupuncture for Fertility success stories

It is no secret – the majority of our acupuncture patients are either trying to conceive or are pregnant.

For years we have resisted publishing any acupuncture and fertility success stories. Because facing the diagnosis of infertility is not the same as back pain or migraines. Dealing with infertility can be emotionally challenging, and reading about success of others is a potentially much more hurtful subject.

For far too long, fertility has been a taboo subject, shrouded in secrecy and shame. By sharing our stories, we can break down those barriers and help those who are struggling to conceive. These stories help to destigmatize infertility raising awareness of how many people out there are struggling to conceive.  And, hopefully, they encourage you not to miss the opportunity and to seek timely treatment.

Of course, we understand that reading about others’ success can be bittersweet for some. Proceed with caution.

“Roberta was very warm, friendly and understanding” Carla

I had been trying to get pregnant for nearly a year before I visited Roberta at Dr Vitalis Acupuncture. Roberta was very warm, friendly and understanding and straight away gave me the confidence to try acupuncture to conceive. Just over a month later, I found myself pregnant. Not only am I sure that the amazing work that Roberta did helped me conceive – I also had other health issues including high stress, back issues and morning sickness treated successfully. I would recommend treatment here to anyone and can’t express how thankful I am to Roberta and Dr Vitalis Acupuncture!

Kind Regards,

Carla

FA told me due to poor ovarian reserve, the only way to conceive was egg donation and IVF. I got pregnant with acupuncture without medical intervention.
“Fertility associates told me that the only way for us to conceive was through egg donation and IVF” Louise

My name is Louise, I am a 42 year old health professional who has done shift work for over 20 years. My husband and I first conceived when I was 39 years old and delivered a beautiful baby girl.

When my daughter turned 1 we decided to start trying to conceive again. After 9 months of trying with no success we decided to look into our fertility. We made an appointment with Fertility Associates who told me that my eggs were old, of poor quality, and that I would probably stop ovulating within a year or so if I hadn’t already. I was commenced on clomifine and had 6 cycles with 1 chemical pregnancy what didn’t last long, before the specialist told us that it was of no use. They were of the opinion that the only way for us to conceive was through egg donation and IVF. They allowed us to try clomifine for another 3 months until we had decided what we were going to do. Both my husband and I were devastated.

While looking through their information book at the egg donation and IVF section, I came across a paragraph about acupuncture and how it is used during IVF implantation. I did a bit of research and found that acupuncture could help with fertility. So I decided to give acupuncture a go.

I commenced acupuncture twice a week and found it to be very relaxing. I even fell asleep on more than one occasion during my treatment. But what I didn’t expect was the physiological changes I noticed in my body which indicated improved blood flow to my uterus. Blood flow significantly reduces as you near menopause. As we age our bodies determine the uterus to be a non-essential organ, reducing blood flow which in turn affects fertility. During the last clomifine cycle and after 3 months of acupuncture my husband and I conceived.

We are currently 22 week pregnant and both myself and the baby are in great health. I am convinced that acupuncture played a vital role in our ability to conceive without any further medical intervention. Both Vitalis and Roberta are empathetic, highly qualified professionals who make time to listen and advise as required. I can’t thank them enough for all their support and ongoing treatment.

I was heading into premature menopause, egg donor was the best option, but I conceived naturally twice with acupuncture.
Because I was heading into premature menopause, Dr. Birdsall called our first baby “a miracle”

I was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) in July 2014. I was 33 and had a very high FSH of 25 and AMH of 6.4. Basically, I was heading into premature menopause. I saw an endocrinologist & fertility specialist Dr Mary Birdsall at Fertility Associates. She told me I had a 5-10% chance of ever conceiving with my own eggs. And there was a 1 % chance of conceiving on our own each cycle. I was told that donor egg was our best option to have a child, but that I could try a few IUI’s to see how I respond to the drugs etc. IVF was not an option.

Although I felt that time was ticking (and fast!) I knew that I had to prepare my body before I started any form of fertility treatment. I did a lot of research! And acupuncture kept coming up. This seemed to be the one consistent thing that increased fertility success for women with my diagnosis. Read more
